Mental Health Initiative

An effecitve approach to the mental health and substance abuse concerns in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties requires a well-coordinated multi-sector effort. The initiative engages representatives from outpatient and inpatient service providers, community support systems, municipalities, housing institutions, and other entities engaged in providing services to individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues.  Currently, the initiative is working with the Advocacy Alliance, the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging, and a variety of other organizations on addressing social isolation and depression in the elderly.   This initiative is supported through the City of Scranton Office of Community and Economic Development through the US Housing and Urban Development Agency.
